Add the app banner and the widgets using Shopify’s theme editor

This installation guide is applied for Dawn and other Shopify themes compatible with Online Stores 2.0 requirements. Shopify has upgraded its theme architecture in Online Store 2.0, so you can install Pandectes GDPR Compliance widgets (Customer Data Requests Widget, Cookie Declaration Widget) by adding app blocks in Shopify’s Theme Editor. In this article, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step instructions to install our banner and widgets on your store.

Step 1: Open the Shopify’s Theme Editor
Step 2: Enable the App Embed
Step 3: Add the Customer Data Requests app block
Step 4: Add the Cookies Declaration app block

Step 1: Open the Shopify’s Theme Editor

After adding the Pandectes GDPR Compliance app from the Shopify apps store click Online Store on the left menu and then click on Themes.

Step 2: Enable the App Embed

Make sure to enable the App Embed in Shopify’s Theme Editor by choosing App Embeds at the left side menu.
When the App Embeds panel appears on the left toggle the bar to enable the Pandectes Core, then click Save.

Note: Don’t forget to switch off the default installation method. To do so click on the Help menu (on the top right of the app) where you can visit the Online Store 2.0 Support option. On this page on the last bullet just make sure the switch is off.

Step 3: Add the Customer Data Requests app block

In this step, you can see how to add the Customer Data Requests widget on a page of your store.

Before adding the Customer Data Requests app block, please navigate to Settings > Customer data requests page and provide the necessary permissions to our application by clicking the Grant access button. The Customer Data Requests form needs access to the Customers & Orders data to function correctly.

The Customer Data Requests code snippet helps you display the following:

The current consent status with the option to revoke it
The Customer Data Requests form for customers or guest visitors

This method follows the new way with app blocks that Shopify suggests after the changes that were made to the themes.

Navigate on the Online Store option from the left side menu and click on the Customize button.
Use the search bar on top and select Pages and then Create a template.
Create a new page template by giving the name Pandectes DSR.
Click the Add block button on the left side panel, search for Pandectes DSR and add it to the page.
Click Save on the top right.
Navigate to the Online Store option from the left side menu and then click on Pages.
Create a new page and give it a title of your liking (e.x. Customer Data Requests).
Select as page template the newly created template called Pandectes DSR and save the page.

Step 4: Add the Cookies Declaration app block

In this step, you can see how to add the Cookies Declaration code snippet on a page on your store. The Cookies Declaration widget helps you display a structured table with all cookies used in your store, together with some basic info about them.

This method follows the new way with app blocks that Shopify suggests after the changes that were made to the themes.
